About us

Made for music associations

Orchesi comes from Sittard, the Netherlands. We’re a musician and a music lover, and we want music associations to stay strong.

Why we do this

A music association is the opposite of everyone for themselves.

  • Digital, but together

With everything going digital, we drift apart more and more. We use technology to make things easier, so you spend more time together. At rehearsal, and at the bar afterwards.

  • More time for music

Many people turn down a seat on the board because it doesn’t fit with work and kids. With Orchesi, organizing takes far less time. That leaves room for an association that’s fun to be part of.

  • More fun for young people

Young people run their lives from their phones. In Orchesi they see right away when rehearsal is and which music is ready. That makes joining an association a lot more appealing.

The team

The people behind Orchesi

A musician and a music lover who both know how much an association matters. They build an app that just works, so you have less to organize and more time for music.

    Ton Smets

    Co-founder

I’ve played trumpet and flugelhorn since I was eight. First in a fanfare band, later also in a wind band and a carnival street band. All those years I saw how much time went into Excel lists and separate tools. I want to give that time back to associations.

    Mick Suntjens

    Co-founder

I grew up around music. My father had a music store and played in a band. I believe in associations, especially now that everyone keeps more to themselves. When I make something simpler, it gets more fun. That keeps an association growing.

The story

How it started

  1. Young Ton in a yellow T-shirt plays the flugelhorn at rehearsal, with a bass drum behind him.
    2002

    Ton joins the fanfare band

Ton is eight when he joins the fanfare band. Later he also plays in a wind band and a carnival street band, on trumpet and flugelhorn.

  2. 2022–2025

Excel and tools that were never quite right

Rehearsals, attendance, sheet music and member lists live in Excel or in separate tools. There are apps for music associations, but they are cluttered and hard to use for members.

  3. Late 2025

    The first version of Orchesi

So Ton gets to work himself. It works, but it isn’t easy yet. And an app for the association also has to work for the member who never reads a manual.

  4. Early 2026

    Together you achieve more

Ton and Mick know each other from earlier IT projects. They decide to build Orchesi together. Ton does the tech, Mick the design and the marketing.

  5. Ton and Mick give a thumbs up, laughing, as they press the button together to release the app.
    Summer 2026

    Orchesi goes live

In the summer of 2026 Orchesi goes live. Associations respond with enthusiasm, and together with them we keep making the app better.

  6. What’s next

    Will you join us?

This is only the beginning. We want music associations and musicians to find each other through Orchesi and make music together more often. Every association that joins helps decide what comes next.
